Volunteering opportunity in Bradford, BD7 in gardening, horticulture, polytunnels, making raised beds, straw bale building etc.

Be part of a community food growing project by helping with our raised beds, forest garden and nature areas.

NB. Tasks undercover in the polytunnels if raining! Feel free to come for all or part of a session.

Why: Help make local food happen! Get outdoors, learn new skills, meet new people, add to your CV and all while making a real difference. Enjoy a great working atmosphere with the focus on enjoyment and working at your own pace.

Tasks: Planting, harvesting, watering, digging, weeding scything, mowing etc.

Where: Cecil Avenue Allotments, BD7 (Cecil Avenue off Horton Park Avenue)

Wear: Dress for the weather.

Directions: Go up Great Horton Road past Mumtaz Asian restaurant. Further up turn left after Mumtaz car park then peel right on to Crossley Street.  At the end of Crossley Street turn right up Cecil Avenue. You will see the allotments further up on the right after the row of houses. You may see us by the shipping containers. The allotment gate is further up on the right.
Provided: Soup, hot drinks, drinking water, gloves, boots, waterproofs, tools, and any basic training required.

Facilities: Compost toilet. Shelter in polytunnels in case of rain. Picnic tables.

Other volunteer opportunities: We would also hugely appreciate help with publicity, funding bids, organising events, project management etc. We hold regular committee meetings that anyone wanting to get involved can come along to.
